It’s important to strike the right balance in the heart of the home as it helps us in achieving elegant and timeless design. The task of designing a new kitchen or updating a current one can be a daunting task. However, if you plan accordingly, and consider the materials, colours and fixtures you want to use in your kitchen carefully it should be a simple process.
So, today we’re taking you through four crucial tips to create a well-balanced kitchen for a refined and timeless design.
1. Balance textures
Texture helps to add depth and interest. So for example, at The Clovelly House project, we balanced out the textures by incorporating dark veneer cabinetry above the kitchen bench-top and on the island and then used a light polyurethane for the storage cabinetry. Cabinetry wtih both a rough texture along with a more smooth texture helped to balance out this kitchen space.

2. Stick to a Simple Theme
Don’t try to fit too many ideas into the kitchen space as this can cause it to look overwhelming and confusing to the eye. Gather inspiration and choose which theme you will be going for before you pick out all the finishes. This will create a cohesive and well-balanced look throughout as materials will match.

3. Pick a splash back that enhances the space
Choosing a great splash back can transform a kitchen so you’ll want to ensure that you pick out the correct on for your space. Consider whether the materials and finishes you have picked will look better with a piece of stone versus tiles.

4. Consider handles
Picking out a nice handle for your cabinetry is essential to the overall design of the kitchen. Consider a statement handle versus a shadow pull. You’ll want to choose the right handle that will complement the material of the cabinetry as well as the various textures in
the space.
